Boxity.io Copyright Policy

Last updated: Oct 5, 2026

1. Boxity hosts user content only

In short: Users make and upload everything here, and users carry all legal liability for it. Boxity does not.

Everything on boxity.io is user content: games and worlds, builds, game titles, descriptions, thumbnails and preview images, models, skins, store and catalog items, assets, sounds, scripts, profiles and usernames. All of it is created and uploaded by independent users. Boxity does not create, commission, select, edit, review, approve or endorse any user-uploaded content, has no knowledge of whether it infringes anyone's rights, and does not receive any financial benefit directly attributable to any specific infringing material. Boxity does not pre-screen uploads.

Boxity acts only as a passive hosting platform and service provider under 17 U.S.C. § 512, 47 U.S.C. § 230, and equivalent laws in other countries. Boxity is not responsible or liable for any user-uploaded content. The user who uploaded content is solely responsible for it, and any claim about that content belongs against that user, not Boxity.

Uploaders hold all legal liability. By uploading anything to Boxity, a user confirms they own it or have every right and permission needed to publish it, and accepts full and sole legal and financial responsibility for it, including all claims, damages, settlements, fines, legal fees and costs arising from any infringement or other violation. Users agree to defend and indemnify Boxity against any claim relating to their uploads. Rights holders agree that their claims for infringing content lie only against the user who uploaded it.

This Copyright Policy is part of, and is governed by, the Boxity Terms of Service.

2. You must notify us first

In short: Email us first and give us 30 days. No claim against Boxity without that.

Email is the only way to report content. All copyright, trademark and other intellectual property complaints about content on Boxity must be sent by email to [email protected]. This is Boxity's designated and exclusive channel for receiving notices. Complaints sent any other way (social media, in-game messages, comments, phone, or to any other address or person) are not valid notice to Boxity and will not be treated as notice for any purpose.

Notice is a mandatory condition before any dispute. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree that before you file, threaten or pursue any claim, complaint, lawsuit, arbitration, regulatory complaint, or takedown request with any third party (including hosting providers, domain registrars, advertising partners, payment providers or brand-protection services) relating to any content on Boxity, you must first:

  1. Send a complete notice to [email protected] as described in section 3, and
  2. Give Boxity a reasonable opportunity, of no less than 30 days, to review and respond, including by removing or disabling the content.

Any claim or proceeding started without first completing these steps is premature, and you agree it should be dismissed or stayed until you have complied. Where Boxity removes or disables the content in response to your notice, you agree that the matter is fully resolved as to Boxity, and that your remaining claims, if any, are solely against the user who uploaded the content.

No liability without notice. Boxity cannot act on content it does not know about. Boxity is not responsible for any content, or any harm arising from it, before it receives a complete notice under this policy.

3. How to send a takedown notice

In short: One email with the work, where the copy is on Boxity, your contact details, two sworn statements and your signature.

Email [email protected] with the subject line "Copyright Notice" and include all of the following. Incomplete notices are not valid and do not count as notice to Boxity.

  1. Identification of the copyrighted work you claim is infringed (or a representative list if there are several): its name, a short description, and a link to the original where possible
  2. Exactly where the material is on Boxity: the game URL or name, store item, username, or a screenshot, with enough detail for us to find precisely what you mean
  3. Your full name, mailing address, phone number and email address
  4. A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law
  5. A statement that the information in the notice is accurate, and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf
  6. Your physical or electronic signature (typing your full legal name at the end of the email counts)

Please write in English where possible so we can process your notice faster.

What happens next. We review each complete notice. Where a notice is valid, we remove or disable access to the reported content, usually within a few business days. If a notice is missing required information, we may reply asking for it; the notice is not actionable, and does not count as notice to Boxity, until it is complete. We tell the uploader that their content was removed after an intellectual property complaint, and may pass along your notice, including your contact details, so they can respond or send a counter-notice. We may also forward notices to third parties that track takedown requests. We keep records of the notices we receive and the actions we take. Removing content is not an admission of liability or that the content infringes.

4. Counter-notices

In short: Uploaders who think a removal was a mistake can send a counter-notice to the same email. Any dispute after that is between them and the complainant.

If your content was removed and you believe it was removed by mistake or misidentification (for example, the work is your own, you have permission, or your use is otherwise lawful), you may email [email protected] with the subject line "Counter-Notice" and include:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature
  2. Identification of the removed content and the URL where it appeared before removal
  3. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the content was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification
  4. Your name, address and phone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for the judicial district where your address is located (or, if you are outside the United States, any judicial district in which Boxity may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice or their agent

We may forward your counter-notice, including your contact details, to the person who sent the original notice. We may restore the content 10 to 14 business days after receiving a valid counter-notice unless the original sender tells us they have filed a court action against you. Whether to restore content is otherwise at our sole discretion, and we have no obligation to restore anything. Any dispute about the content is solely between you and the person who sent the notice; Boxity is not a party to it.

5. Repeat infringers, false notices and trademarks

In short: Repeat infringers get banned, false notices carry legal risk for the sender, and trademark complaints follow the same email-first process.

Repeat infringers. We will terminate, in appropriate circumstances and at our sole discretion, the accounts of users who repeatedly upload infringing content. We may also remove any content or account at any time, with or without a notice, for any reason.

False or abusive notices. Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), anyone who knowingly misrepresents that content is infringing, or that it was removed by mistake, may be liable for damages, including costs and legal fees. We may ignore notices that are incomplete, abusive, fraudulent, automated without human review, or sent in bad faith, and may refuse further notices from senders who abuse this process.

Trademarks and other rights. Complaints about trademarks, brand names, characters, likeness, profiles or games impersonating a brand, or other rights must also be sent to [email protected] first, follow the same notice-first requirement in section 2, and include the same information as section 3 (adapted to the right claimed, including registration numbers where available).

6. No liability

In short: Boxity carries zero liability for anything users upload. Removal of the content is the only remedy.

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BOXITY AND ITS OWNERS, OPERATORS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, MODERATORS, PARTNERS AND SERVICE PROVIDERS HAVE NO LIABILITY OF ANY KIND, AND LIABILITY OF ZERO DOLLARS (US $0), FOR ANY USER-UPLOADED CONTENT, ANY INFRINGEMENT BY ANY USER, ANY ACTION TAKEN OR NOT TAKEN UNDER THIS POLICY, OR ANY REMOVAL, FAILURE TO REMOVE, OR RESTORATION OF CONTENT.

  • Removal is your sole remedy. Your sole and exclusive remedy against Boxity for any content on the Service is to submit a notice under this policy and have the content removed or disabled.
  • No monitoring duty. Boxity has no obligation to monitor, search for, filter or pre-screen content for infringement, and does not do so. Any voluntary review creates no duty or liability.
  • No admission. Removing or disabling content, terminating an account, or forwarding a notice is not an admission of liability, knowledge or wrongdoing.
  • No decisions on the merits. Boxity does not decide whether content actually infringes, and is not responsible for resolving disputes between rights holders and users.
  • Waiver and covenant not to sue. To the fullest extent permitted by law, by sending a notice or using the Service you waive all claims against Boxity relating to user-uploaded content, and agree to pursue such claims only against the user responsible.
  • Indemnity. Users who upload content agree to defend, indemnify and hold Boxity harmless from all claims, damages, costs and legal fees arising from that content, as set out in the Terms of Service.
  • Changes. We may update this policy at any time by posting a new version with a new "Last updated" date.
